MATSAPHA ACTING CHAIRPERSON CLEARED OF ALLEGATIONS

By Samkelisiwe Khoza | 2019-02-21

ACTING Matsapha Town Council Chairperson Siphesihle Sibandze has been cleared of corruption allegations.

Allegations against Sibandze surfaced from other councillors’ submissions before the commission that there was a link between him and Hi-tech, his business was in partnership with that company, hence he moved a motion on granting them a tender.

It was said the director of Hense is also co-director of Hi-tech and he was in partnership with that Sibandze.

However, Sibandze provided the commission with documentation of his business which he solely owns.

Sibandze said he does not blame the councillors who alleged that he moved that motion due to the fact that he was in partnership with that company.

Chairperson of the Commission Lungile Magagula also brought to the public’s attention that the Commission conducted its own investigations regarding the alleged link between Sibandze and Hi-tech as well as Hense. Magagula said according to their findings, there was no link whatsoever between the acting chairperson and the said companies.

“The Commission concluded after conducting its own investigation that there were no commonalities between Sibandze and those companies,” said the chairperson, adding that in their findings where the said individuals were appearing, they appeared alone.

Meanwhile, Sibandze said politics was like that, so he was not surprised that the councillors came to the conclusion that he moved that motion because he was linked to those companies.
