‘WE HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO RECOVER’

By Mthunzi Maziya | 2019-02-18

SOCCER  – MBABANE Highlanders’ skipper Mxolisi ‘Chocco’ Sibandze has urged the team’s fans not to panic after the team’s 0-1 loss to Malanti Chiefs.

Malanti beat the ‘Black Bull’ in a league match played at Somhlolo National Stadium on Saturday. The performance was not popular with the fans, and ‘Chocco’ said there was nothing lost as the team was still competitive in the league and in the knock-out competitions.

“This defeat came at the right time because we have enough time to recover. It was a wakeup call, and I thank the fans for not turning against us, even though we clearly were not at our best against Malanti,” he said.

‘Chocco’ added that they had far too many injuries to cope in the game and pleaded with the fans to keep faith in the technical team as they were doing their best to improve the side.

“Malanti had prepared well for us and that is the sole reason they won. Our appeal to the fans as players is that they continue supporting the team.

“I was very happy that there was no booing after we lost the game.

It shows that our fans are now matured,” he said.

Highlanders are now four points off the pace in the league after last Saturday’s defeat. They are still involved in the Ingwenyama Cup, where they will play the final against Young Buffaloes on March 17th, and are through to the last 16 of the EswatiniBank Cup.
