TWO months after the Tekuvakasha Awards stewarded by the Eswatini Tourism Authority (ETA), one of Eswatini’s establishments has moved on to compete on the international stage.
Sondzela Backpackers proved to be the favourite among tourists after scooping the Best Hostel Award in Eswatini at the HOSCARs Awards 2019.
HOSCARs is an acronym for Hostelworld Customer Annual Ratings. HOSCARs honoured Sondzela Backpackers, which operates under Big Game Parks during the 20th edition of the Awards.
Sondzela Backpackers is situated in Malkerns within Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. Hostelworld is the leading hostel-focused online booking platform that annually honours the best hostels from all over the world as voted by travellers.
The HOSCARs are based on millions of reviews from an adventure-seeking, passionate global community of travellers who have experienced the place.
Sondzela Backpackers’ Sales Manager Xolani Gama said the award meant a lot to them. Gama said they felt honoured to win the HOSCARs award considering that the HOSCARs are world-renowned and the most prestigious any backpackers could receive.
“The award is a reflection of the team’s continuous efforts and dedication to ensuring that our guests are at the heart of everyone here. The work they put in has finally been rewarded, and on a renowned international platform,” she said.
“The award for Sondzela validates on how much the staff ensures our guests are well taken care of that even when they leave our Kingdom our backpacker has left an imprint on their mind and still manage to recommend it to others and vote it as the best. Sondzela is grateful for this recognition and will continue to offer memorable services to our clients.” She said.
Gama said Sondzela was committed to offering the best services to suit the various needs of their different clients and make sure that they are content. She further said it was an amazing thing that they met the standard of the HOSCARs’ winning criteria, which is value for money, security, location, facilities, staff, atmosphere and cleanliness and they intend to improve the quality of their services to satisfy their clients.
Meanwhile, when reached for comment, ETA Marketing Manager Bongani Dlamini said his organisation was proud that Sondzela had put Eswatini on the map and this would work as a marketing effort at no cost to the kingdom. “We really applaud Sondzela for their achievement and the effort that they put in ensuring quality service for guests, especially international visitors. Other establishments should follow the example of Sondzela and never fear competition,” he said.
