SOCCER – CORRECTIONAL Services side Green Mamba’s defender Mphumuti ‘Tower’ Ginindza is on the verge of joining hub giants Manzini Wanderers in the current transfer window.
According to impeccable sources within the Weslians camp, the former Red Lions player is one of the few players who are set to join the team as new mentor Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati looks to make sweeping changes in the team.
“The player is one of the many who have been assessed in the team, but I can definitely state that he is joining the team.
The technical bench is impressed as they are looking for stability at the back, and all the qualities, from his height and experience, he will definitely make a change at the back,” he said.
Ginindza’s move to the hub giants comes only a few days after the team’s new coach made mention of the fact that he was unhappy with too many of the team’s players, in particular their stinking attitude and laziness.
When the Manzini Wanderers public relations officer (PRO) was sought for comment, he acknowledged the fact that players were being assessed to join the team, but didn’t want to commit to the defender in particular.
“There are so many players who we are currently assessing and I cannot point to one in particular.
“It is no secret that the team is beefing up the squad, so there are many players you should expect to don the maroon and white jersey soon,” he concluded. Green Mamba Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thami Phakathi couldn’t be reached for comment as his phone rang unanswered when called several times yesterday and he didn’t reply to a text message sent to him.
