PM AMBROSE LEFT A STRONG MTN – NHLEKO

By THEMBEKA DLAMINI | 2018-12-16

Prime Minister Ambrose Dlamini has been lauded for leaving a strong company after his appointment to lead government.

This was articulated by Acting Chief Executive Officer Sibusiso Nhleko during a dinner held for customers on Thursday.

Less than two months after the premier left the company, it has gained recognition for having the best network in the region within the MTN Group of companies. With this achievement revealed, Nhleko assured customers that they would cross over to 2019 with a new digital world with their number one network in the country.

He said MTN was grateful during their historic year which saw them celebrate 20years along with the nation’s Golden Jubilee, the country’s name change and the appointment of their CEO as PM.

Lauding the legacy left behind by his former boss, the acting CEO assured their customers that they had very talented employees who would give them an epic experience.

“We will continue to innovate and roll out innovative products and services to ensure that we take you to a whole new digital experience,” he said adding that customers enabled greatness in the company. He attributed all their corporate social investments to the customers stating that they are the ones who enable their ability to give extensively. “Last year during our 21 Days of Y’ello Care we built a primary school within six weeks and this year we built a vocational centre with the support of all our partners,” he said.

...Strong mindset needed to turn economy around

The country’s economy can be turned around with people embracing a set mind.

Entrepreneur Phumelele Maseko said it was important to have people who will be able to filter what they are exposed to and align themselves with continuous development and improvement. “It is my duty to find a way of encouraging others,” he said adding how even though the event was purposed to celebrate them as customers, he hoped it would be used as a platform to reach within and look at what is being said about the country and embrace the positives.

“If the mind is not set, a lot of things will pass through it,” he said as he motivated his peers to greatness.

MTN has the best network in the region

The 97 per cent network cove-rage has earned Eswatini MTN the best network award in the region.

This was said by MTN Group General Manager Enterprise Development Tumi Chamayou who was guest speaker during the tradition end of year dinner held for customers on Thursday at the Royal Swazi Hotel.

She said this was a praise worthy as it meant nearly everyone now had access to coverage. She stated that despite the challenges faced regionally, Eswatini MTN strived to reach its 20 years of local existence and looks at leaping forward to transform the lives of locals.

Reflecting, she said 2018 was generally a difficult year politically and in terms of the economy for different countries, however, there were great celebrations such as the local service provider coming of age and turning 20.

She said it was amazing to note the mobile operator’s growth. She said it was cognisant to note that the world was experiencing the fourth industrial revolution and it was hence important to know the importance of this phenomenon.  “And how are we going to take the next ten years, the next leap of faith in technology and how it is going to transform lives,” Chamayou said.

She lauded technology for being an equaliser which assists nations to catch up with first world nations.

Sharing the draw card that made her join MTN after working as a consultant, she said she noted that it was really trying to do something as it articulated that it wanted to lead and deliver the bold new digital world.

This is the conversation she says was the driving force in ensuring that the society within which MTN operates engaged customers holistically.

She shared three of their strategies which call for the best customer experience so that businesses can deliver the same to their end user customers.

“The second pillar is on technology. It is the lifeblood of where are,” she said.

She noted that the company, world-wide, was bold and brave in ensuring connectivity despite some setbacks which include fines in some countries.

And as a way of ensuring there is continuation, staff should be well taken care of so that they can impart a well embraced strategy to the customers.
