EMBRACE YOUR NATURAL HAIR

By Phetsile Mamba | 2018-12-16

Tiyandza Nsingwane is a 20-year-old from Mpolonjeni, Mbabane who is one of Eswatini’s best makeup artist.

We as people don’t have similar hair. Her hair grows slow naturally. Which is why she aids the growth process using natural ingredients to moisturise it. Also using growth oils, protective styles and wigs.

Growing natural hair without having to cut it requires applying relaxer on your hair. As your natural hair grows underneath you can then cut the relaxed ends once you are satisfied with the length of your natural hair, as some people are really not brave enough to do the big chop.

Nsingwane said “during my years of relaxed hair I had thin wispy hair.

Until I did the big chop I realised my hair grew thicker in its natural state. But some products like castor oil, Jamaican black castor oil were known and used to stimulate hair growth usually on bald patches; I’m guessing it play the role of thickening it as well.”

She is a big fan of change when it comes to hairstyles and she constantly cut my hair short.

My natural hair started growing last year November.

Nsingwane can safely say she did the big chop because she had short hair and looked like a little boy.

Which is why she patiently waited for her hair to grow.

She tries eating at least healthy food so that her hair can grow because she believes organic products with sulphate in them as they somehow straighten the hair.

For her hair she uses organic coconut oil, Jamaican black castor oil, olive oil(mostly when I make a deep conditioner) and rice water on wash day.

Her advice to those who want to grow their natural hair is that patience is the first thing you need to have because hair takes its time.

It is a long journey, you can't have natural hair if you don't have love for hair, and it requires a lot of maintenance and needs a lot of attention.
