LUDZIDZINI VILLAGE TO SHOWCASE SWATI CULTURE

By Majaha Nkonyane | 2018-12-16

THE newly launched Swati village at Ludzidzini Royal Residence will act as an educational centre for tourists while giving much needed clarity about the country’s history, way of life and traditional architecture.

The village is located at the second gate of the royal residence and beams with five fully thatched huts that catch the eye of those passing by.

This new, fascinating village was launched on Wednesday by the Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Moses Vilakati.

Vilakati said the village would also act as an information centre on tourist attraction places the country has and what takes place at a traditional Swati homestead.

“This place will allow tourists to get to know the country better as it will enable them to experience a Swazi home entirely with a rich history of our culture as a nation. Our culture fascinates most of our international friends and visitors the most.

It is perhaps because no other country of the world presents such an authentic and fascinating medley of a rich heritage, which dates back so long in history,” he said.

The village will now be open on a full time basis as its services were previously available on special occasions like the reed dance and Incwala ceremony where tourists would have an experience of the country’s way of life.

Vilakati said the country’s social customs, religious and spiritual concepts and education all come together to create Eswatini’s culture.

The minister said all such information should be availed so as to provide an edutainment service to tourists.
