FURNITURE BARGAINS IN SWAZI AUCTIONEERS SHOP LAUNCH

By Hlengiwe Ndlovu | 2018-12-11

THE Swazi Auctioneers shop, which was launched on Saturday in Mbabane, attracted a strong crowd of close to 100 shoppers who eagerly bid for a wide range of household items and furniture on offer.

The auction offered massive bargains on furniture such as bunk beds whose reserve price was E2 500, couches, sofas, coffee tables, dining tables, garden chairs and beds. Of the 14 available bunk beds, six were sold for E2 500 each. A consignment of Sealy beds also seemed to be another favourite as bidders competed to get their hands on each of them. Other bargains were on coffee tables, one of which came with a reserve price of E200, but was later sold for E350 after a tight bidding process. Auctioneer Sakhile Ndzimandze of Swazi Auctioneers also proved to be a fierce sales person as he would not cave into bidders murmurs of complaint when highly attractive furniture came at high reserve prices.

“I am not under pressure to sell. How about you go to a furniture shop and pay a higher amount for exactly the same item,” he said. Spotted in this auction were doctors, politicians, company executives and other accomplished professionals who had no qualms mingling with ordinary people, especially hairdressers operating in the Commercial Centre building who also came to look for quick bargains. In an interview after the auction, Ndzimandze said the Swazi Auctioneers shop would function like a normal furniture shop. He promised bargains on furniture and household items in future.
