By Sabelo Gwebu | 2018-11-18

SOCCER – Hours before this afternoon’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match against Niger, Sihlangu coach Anthony Mdluli has more injury worries.

Sihlangu welcome Niger in this dead-rubber game at Mavuso Sports Centre searching for their first win in Group J.

South Africa’s Maritzburg United striker Justice ‘Figa’ Figuareido and Young Buffaloes right back Lindo Mkhonta are struggling with knee and ankle injuries respectively, and are subject to a late fitness test.

The pair, according to inside sources at Sihlangu camp in Lobamba’s Technical Centre, could only afford light training with squad doctor Gcina Hleta closely monitoring their injuries. Already, Mdluli has four forced withdrawals due to injuries on his initial 28-men squad.

On song Mbabane Highlanders’ Sabelo ‘Sawa’ Gamedze, dynamic Royal Leopard midfielder Junior Magagula and the pair of Young Buffaloes’ left back Wandile Maseko and tough-as-teak centre back Siboniso Mamba all withdrew because if injuries.

Mbabane Swallows striker Sandile Hlatshwako asked to be excused to concentrate on pressing personal problems while midfielder Richard McCreesh has reportedly fallen out with the squad technical team, leaving Mdluli with 22 players to work with.

No immediate comment could be sourced from Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe at the time of compiling this report. Meanwhile, it will be E50 to watch this afternoon clash.
