SOCCER – National Under-23 coach Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane has described Friday night’s goalless draw against Mozambique as a tricky result, ahead of the return leg on Tuesday.
The two nations locked horns at the Estadio Nacional do Zimpeto in Maputo in a CAF Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. The winner will face Zimbabwe next March as the battle for a slot in the finals to be hosted by Egypt in November 2019 continues unabated.
“We fought hard as it was a difficult game. My players followed instructions, adding commitment in their play. On the result, it is a tricky one because it means we must win the return match at all costs to progress,” the former Royal Leopard strategist said.
Ntibane has all the reasons to be worried as a score-line draw will mean Mozambique progress on away goals. The team returned to the country yesterday morning to continue their preparations for Tuesday after taking the just over an hour drive from Mozambique’s capital Maputo to Lobamba.
Linking-up with the rest of their national teammates were the quartet of Manzini Sundowns goalkeeper Lwethu Simelane, Mbabane Highlanders defender Peter Dlamini, First Division side Madlenya’s Bongwa Matsebula and Themba Mthembu who plays for Shiselweni Super League side All Nations.
