SOCCER – AFTER failing to show up for their disciplinary hearing last week, Mbabane Highlanders have been summoned by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Disciplinary Committee (DC).
The black and white ensemble was meant to appear before the DC last Friday but did not show up, something that has resulted in their summoning by the committee.
For their actions, the team is also expected to pay the sitting allowances for the DC.
Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Simanga Nhleko confirmed the matter yesterday.
He said the team had already been served with the papers summoning them to the hearing tonight.
“Highlanders didn’t show up for their case last week and will have to pay for that sitting. The matter continues tomorrow night and they are expected to show up,” he said.
Efforts to get comment from Highlanders Head of Secretariat Mphumelelo Mnisi proved futile as his mobile phone rang unanswered when contacted yesterday.
Highlanders face a summary fine of E80 000 after being charged with three counts of misconduct during their opening match against sworn-rivals Mbabane Swallows at the Somhlolo National Stadium.
