OROS VIDEO CALLS FATHER, SAYS HE WILL NEVER RETURN

By THEMBEKA DLAMINI | 2018-09-22

Five months and five days after the last time he spoke to his son, Sakhile ‘Oros’ Msibi’s father has been convinced that he is still alive.

Over two weeks ago, during an exclusive interview with this publication, the Manzini based businessman Sipho Msibi revealed how he was convinced that his son was dead following his disappearance in May.

He last spoke to his celebrity son on April 15, when he stated that he was no longer going to the United States as he would like to spend more time in the country.

Friends

That was the last time he heard from him; until on Thursday night.

Following the social media posts which had his friends questioning their authenticity due to the tone and language; this publication paid his father a visit, more than 30 hours after the first sign of consistent social media presence.

Prior to the Instagram and Facebook posts, Oros’ Messenger application indicated that he was online as he was responding to old messages left by friends.

“Oros’ is online. He just responded to my messages on Messenger,” said a concerned friend at about 9am on Thursday. The posts on his wall came about in the evening of the same day.

Messages

His WhatsApp has been inactive for quite some time as his family assumes his number was discontinued after it was not used for a long while.

During the visit to his father on Friday at around noon, he said the posts were still a rumour to him because close family members had not been contacted.

Oros’ brother Sammy joined the interview at its tail end and he relented that even though his messages had been responded to, he had not called the long lost flamboyant man as he was waiting to do it with family.

Instead, in their text messages, they set an appointment for a video call which happened after 7pm on the same day.

Relating what happened during the video call, Msibi senior confirmed the identity of his previously lost son.

Questions

“It is him and he is well,” said the father who previously said he was convinced that his son’s prolonged absence was caused by his demise and had mourned him for two months on end.

He however stated that the conversation sounded stifled; as though Oros had been coached on what to say.

“He said he was involved in an accident which left him in a coma for five months. However, he looks too well to have been indisposed,” said Msibi.

The only location he was willing to reveal was that he was in the United States without stating the specific area.

“He was in a kitchen when we spoke.” However, the father was not able to state whether  it  was a modern kitchen or an institutional one.

He solicited help from his daughter who said she had spoken to him and was shown an area outside which constituted a designer garden.

“He was not alone when speaking to me,” said the young girl adding that he sounded guarded.

His father continued, “He said he would never return to the country.”

When asked what this means, he said he was yet to digest the information as he felt he owed it to the nation and beyond to inform them that he was aware that his son was alive; “What will happen next, I cannot say. I don’t have the answers as I have a lot of questions myself. However, I would like to thank all those who have been with us in prayer during our time of trouble.”
