COO STAYING PUT - PLE CHAIRMAN

By Qondile Ntiwane | 2018-08-20

SOCCER – PREMIER League of Eswatini (PLE) Chairman Peter Touch Magagula has assured that the company’s chief operations officer (COO) Pat Vilakati  is  staying put at the organisation.

This follows concerns on what will happen to the position now that the organisation is hiring a chief executive officer (CEO).

Position

Magagula said  they would retain the position and that the incumbent would work together with the CEO.

He said the two officials would be responsible for different roles and responsibilities in the organisation, a move that would go a long way in the development of the game.

“Yes we are on the verge of hiring a CEO but that doesn’t mean we will do away with the COO.

These two positions will complement each other and further improve our product.

For instance the CEO will look into the daily running of the PLE while the COO will mainly focus on the running of the leagues.”

Positions

“Besides this is not the first time we   have these positions at the same time as it was the case a while back,” he said. The PLE has already advertised the position for CEO through JBH Consultancy.

Some of the duties will include strategic leadership for the whole organisation, overseeing the financial sustainability and cost containment, work closely with the board in the enforcement of policies and procedures, amongst other duties.
