SOCCER - MTN Premier League rookies Mbabane Citizens are on the verge of signing Ghanaian striker Edmund Appeadu ahead of the new campaign. The 25-year-old striker was expected to start training with the capital city side yesterday afternoon.
Also in the books of the Humphrey Mlwane led charges is South African midfielder Nthethelo Msangwana. Citizens Interim Manager Mandla Simelane confirmed the developments when contacted yesterday. "We are expecting two international players to join us at training today (yesterday). We are trying to intensify our preparations for the new season hence boosting our squad. We do hope these players will add value to the team as we want to compete in the league.
“We are still going to announce other team details including planned international friendly matches," he said. Citizens will be campaigning in the top flight football following their promotion last season, where they finished as runner up behind eventual champions Manzini Sea Birds. The MTN League is expected to kick off next weekend.
