ZOLA 7 FOR BIGGEST BRAAI

By Ayanda Dlamini | 2018-07-13

SOUTH African kwaito legend Zola 7 will be in the country next weekend for this year’s Biggest Braai.

according to Bongani Dube, who is part of the organising team, Zola would be sharing the stage with the likes of  Linda Dlamini, Mduduzi Nezinceku zamagawugawu, Gcina Masuku, Phathwakahle, Police Gospel Messengers, and MTN SWAMA nominees.  On the turntables, DJs Mbo and Master P will be doing what they are known for.

The Shosholoza hit maker became well known for his role as the notorious gangster Papa Action in ‘Yizo Yizo 2’. The character was already popular in Yizo Yizo and had been portrayed by another actor. Zola resembled the previous performer, and his performance only increased the popularity of the role.

He has enjoyed success as a kwaito superstar, and is probably the most popular kwaito artist in SA. Lance Stehr of Ghetto Ruff  records has referred to Zola as "the second biggest brand in the country after Nelson Mandela.” Zola not only performs but also writes and produces some of his own music, signing to the independent label Ghetto Ruff records.

He is not new in the country as he recently performed in Pigg’s Peak at Gobolondlo Hall. tickets to the fast-growing annual Eswatini Biggest Braai are now  available through the MTN Swaziland money transfer platform Mobile Money, also known as ‘Hamba Mali’.

According to Dube, tickets cost E70 for single if not interested in braai and E480 for couples. The couple’s ticket comes with two braai packs and one braai stand.  This arrangement comes through a partnership they had established with MTN to offer best service and convenience for this year’s historic event.

The event will take place at Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre on July 22.
