SOCCER – THE matter involving Mbabane Citizen Boss Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane and Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) will now be heard by a Disciplinary Committee (DC).
This follows a ruling by the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Appeals Board on Tuesday night that the matter be referred to the Disciplinary Committee for a fresh hearing.
PLS Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati confirmed the matter yesterday.
“Yes the matter was heard yesterday (on Tuesday) and we will wait for the DC to be convened so the matter can be heard,” he said.
Simelane lodged an appeal after being slapped with a E20 000 fine by the PLS for assaulting its executive member Sicelo Mkhonta, who is also a Director of Manzini Sea Birds.
This was after the National First Division (NFD) championship decider between Citizens and Sea Birds at the Somhlolo National Stadium on May 13.
Sea Birds won that match 2-0 to clinch the NFD title and the E120 000 first prize cheque.
In charging Simelane, the PLS invoked Article 7 (2) of the 2017/18 MTN National First Division League Rules and Regulations which states that “Notwithstanding, the provisions of Article 7 (1) above, the PLS reserves the right to charge any player, official, marshal, supporter, fan, spectator positively identified by the Referee or Match Commissioner or PLS official to have contravened any of Article 7 (1) and if found guilty he/she shall be punished in accordance with NFAS constitution and/or the NFAS rules and regulations or the NFAS disciplinary code.”
