SOCCER - AFTER a trophy-less season, Royal Leopard President and Police Commissioner Isaac Magagula has disbanded the club’s entire Management Committee (MC) after another underwhelming season for the police side.
Leopard had a 2017/18 campaign to forget, finishing seventh in the MTN Premier League and failing to win a single cup competition. That disappointing season has prompted club President Magagula to ring changes, with the MC being the first to suffer, according to a source close to the club.
Disbanded
“The commissioner has disbanded the entire MC. He met with them last week and again this week. The commissioner was left disappointed with last season’s results so he wants the team to do better next season,” the source, who preferred to remain anonymous, said.
Reached for comment on Tuesday, Leopard PRO Frank Hurube confirmed that the commissioner had met with the MC but denied that there had been any disbanding.
“Yes, it’s true we met the commissioner and his executive yesterday (Monday). He also met with the players.
The commissioner thanked us (MC) for our service to the team over the years but noted that the recently completed season had been a disappointment.
He then asked our suggestions on how to get the team back to winning ways but we politely asked him to make those decisions as the president of the club,” Hurube said.
The Leopard PRO then added that there would definitely be changes at Leopard between now and the start of next season.
“Changes will happen, definitely. You will see them. When the next season starts, changes will have been made,” Hurube added.
The disbanded Leopard MC consisted of Mxolisi ‘Master’ Dlamini, who was the Chairman as well as Mabamba Shiba, who was the secretary, amongst others.
