THE race is for the swift indeed.
Award winning gospel songbird Nothando Hlophe is set to release her second album in July.
The CD and DVD was recorded live in South Africa, Johannesburg at the Soweto Theatre on April 28 and according to her management, it will hit the shelves from July month end.
Known and celebrated for her strong vocals and deep worship ability, Hlophe’s second album also contains songs that want to match if not surpass the success of her outstanding song ‘Khulula ugcobo.’
This is a song she did with Women in Praise and was written by song-writing maestro and producer Siyabonga Sukati.
In the singer’s second album, songs like ‘Lord we invite you’ and ‘Tibonakalise’ are the ones gospel music lovers have been humming and eagerly waiting to listen from the fine-tuned album.
Leserato’s Sphiwe Nxumalo said: “it is definitely something we are also looking forward to. We implore Swazis to continue supporting her as they did before.”
Describing the upcoming DVD/CD, Nxumalo said it was a beautiful project that appeals to all members of the family and was a high quality production.
Worth noting is that this time around the singer wrote most of the songs in her album herself. These include the soul-searing ‘Ungilwela timphi tami’ and the brutally honest yet groovy ‘Shiya.’
Hlophe has hit many strides in a very short time in her career.
First of all, she won the national Women in Praise auditions which was followed by the live recording and release of her debut album ‘Imphilo yami.’
From then, the songbird joined South African power-house Spirit of Praise led by the legendary Benjamin Dube.
In-between then she has been performing at various places in and outside the country, including the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards stage where she put the auditorium to a standstill, blasting her lungs out in song.
She has also won two awards from the National Council of Arts and Culture Awards (NACAs).
As the road builds to the biggest award ceremony in the country, the MTN SWMA Awards, Hlophe has joined in the race to produce the latest material which will still be fresh to the ears by the time of the awards in December.
