Nhlangano-born DJ Simtronic is now the resident DJ for Hunters SA.
Being the brand’s resident DJ, Simtronic has toured many places in South Africa during the national tour the brand embarks on seasonally. Each season lasts for four months. This was confirmed by the DJ on Saturday who said: “I have been with Hunters Extreme for some time now and we will be kicking off another season of their national tour in SA.”
The Hunters Extreme Tour has allowed the DJ to share the stage with other heavyweights in the South African industry including Riky Rick, Sjava, Da les and Shugasmakx, to mention only a few.
The Hunters Extreme deal is not all there is in the DJ’s basket as he also has a slot on DJ Sbu’s Breakfast Show on Massive Metro every Friday.
DJ Simtronic, real name Simphiwe Gama, moved to Pretoria, South Africa, in the year 2012 for academic purposes and that is when he fell in love with deejaying. “I entered a deejaying competition which I won and part of the prize package was a slot on the popular 5FM. I also had the opportunity to work with DJ Euphonik,” he said. The young DJ said he was optimistic of the future, as he reckons his start was not as bad as he thought it would be. He did, however, admit that penetrating the South African industry is not a walk in the park but it requires patience, dedication and hard work.
Even though he only performed once in his country of birth, he assured that collaborations with locals were on the pipeline.
“Not only do I want to work with locals on songs but I also want to get slots and interviews for them on my breakfast show to sort of introduce them to the South African market, just playing my part in exporting the local industry players,” he said.
Adding on his list of accomplishments thus far Simtronic has released a single called ‘Turn-up yangempela’ which he released under an entertainment stable called Buttabing Entertainment.
Buttabing Entertainment is the stable where the famous Skwatta Kamp, Kwesta and Bonang were once signed under.
DJ Simtronic is one of the very few Eswatini born spinners who are making it big in a foreign land. DJ Touch of Soul is also one of them.
