FA TO GIVE E100 000 TO SWALLOWS

By Mbono Mdluli | 2018-03-22

SOCCER - THE National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) is expected to give E100 000 to Swaziland’s CAF envoys, Mbabane Swallows.

This was said by Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David Ngcamphalala yesterday in the House of Assembly. This was during the debate of the annual performance of the ministry of sports, culture and youth affairs.

Ngcamphalala was responding to a question posed by Senate Deputy President Ngomuyayona Gamedze. Gamedze wanted to know what government was doing to ensure that it supported the country’s teams that participated in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) like the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup.

Gamedze said other countries supported their teams and that was the reason why they did well in such tournaments. The minister said actually, it was companies that were supposed to help in giving financial support to local football teams because that was the trend in the whole world.

He further said government, through the NFAS, would give E100 000 to Mbabane Swallows just to boost them in the group stages tournament of the CAF Champions League. Mbabane Swallows are supposed to begin their CAF Champions League group stages journey in May.

swallows were drawn in group  D together with Zesco United, Primeitro De Agesto and ESSS. The minister urged companies to support sporting activities in the country as they had a potential of turning around the economy for the best.

Meanwhile, Ngcamphalala said government also committed an amount of E25 000 per month just to ensure that football was played even at night. The minister said such had to happen because even His Majesty King Mswati III was a staunch supporter of sports in the country. He wanted to see this country excel in sporting activities.
