THE date for Francophonie Festival organised by the Alliance Francaise of Mbabane has been revealed.
According to a communiqué by the Alliance Francaise, there will be a series of events to celebrate the Francophonie week from March 17 to 24.
Celebrations will begin with the schools festival which will take place on March 17 and 23 at Mater Dolorosa High School hall.
During this period many schools will celebrate the French language with different performances including drama, poetry, music and more. Children will have the opportunity to experience and share the Francophonie spirit, but most of all they will be given the chance to share their creative talents and perform.
promote
What is to bear in mind is that each year in March the world celebrates the Francophonie week in a quest to promote the French language and culture throughout the world.
The Francophonie week also celebrates cultural diversity by promoting Swazi culture throughout the different events.
The main festival will be free and will take place on March 24 at the Alliance Française of Mbabane (behind the ministry of Education) from noon to 5pm.
focus
Swazi Culture will be the focus of the day as many Swazi singers and musicians will perform.
Well known for its support of many famous Swazi artists and events such as Bholoja, Bush Fire, The Rooted Soulz and Pelepele dance group, this year again the festival will offer the winner of the rap contest the chance to perform at MTN Bushfire Festival 2018.
Festival goers will also have access to a local craft market and will be able to taste international food and enjoy art craft from all over Swaziland.
This year again, the Francophonie week will be generously sponsored by Total Swaziland
which has been one of the main sponsors of the event since its creation.
