SWAMA PARTNERS WITH SIBEBE MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE

By Lusito Tsela | 2018-02-23

THE Swaziland Arts and Music Association (SWAMA) has partnered with the forthcoming Sibebe Mountain Challenge slated for March 3.

The Afrotim-Sibebe Resort Mountain Challenge will see a number of activities taking place on the day, including  mountain biking, trail running, aerobics and Barbosa crossfit challenge, to name a few.

This was revealed by one of the organisers, Larry Mhlanga.

Mhlanga said, “We have partnered with SWAMA and they will have a stall which will sell artists music and merchandise, to name a few.”

Mhlanga continued saying there will be 10 local artists who will join the Trail Run as a way of keeping fit.

“As Sibebe Resort, we are excited that the Resort will provide a space for the creatives. Sibebe Rock is one of the world wonders and the scenery, views and environment gives one a peace of mind, thus artists need such environment when producing their works,” he added.

Mhlanga said the partnership will go a long way in supporting the arts in Swaziland.

“The Minister of sports, culture and youth affairs Ngcamphalala and SNCAC CEO Stanley Dlamini always emphasise on the collaboration of sports and arts, which is one of the reasons we are doing just that,” he said.

On the other hand, SWAMA President Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini confirmed the latest developments saying, “Yes, we have partnered with the recently established resort for this wellness event.”

“We feel it is very important for artists to also put health first and prioritise being active.

We all know a healthy body results in a healthy mind and the mind is the most critical tool of a creative,” he added.

He continued saying, “We, therefore, encourage creatives to take this opportunity with both hands, but we have spaces for only 10 people for the race,” he said.

Dlamini added that they have also secured a stall space where artists will be able to sell their merchandise and products at absolutely no cost to them.

“This is a special deal and we truly appreciate the management and event organisers at Sibebe Resort for this opportunity,” he said.
