The third suspect in the murder of businessman Victor Gamedze, who had previously been unidentified, has been arrested too.
His name is Siphiwe ‘Ntjebe/Tata’ Ngubane. He was arrested over the weekend with his alleged partner in crime Mbuso ‘Ncaza’ Nkosi. This then brings suspects behind bars in the murder of Gamedze to three.
First to be arrested was businessman and Matsapha United boss Sipho Shongwe, who is due to hear his bail application tomorrow.
National Commissioner of Police Isaac Magagula, at a press briefing yesterday, said the two suspects; Nkosi and Ngubane, were arrested in their native country over the weekend.
Magagula said the two were arrested together but refused to go into details of where and how they were arrested as he said that would jeopardise their case in court.
“Murder suspect Mbuso ‘Ncaza’ Nkosi and his co-accused Siphiwe ‘Ntjebe/Tata’ Ngubane were arrested at the same place over the weekend in South Africa, their native country,” he said.
Whereabouts
Magagula said local police, who are part of the 10-member task team, left the country on Thursday for South Africa to meet with their South African counterparts. “When the task team left the country, we already knew the whereabouts of the suspects, but we had to collaborate with SAPS to arrest the suspects,” he said.
He said the Royal Swaziland Police (RSP) have no right to arrest a suspect in another country, therefore, they had to work hand-in-hand with the SAPS.
Information gathered from sources is that the suspects were rounded up by about 30 police officers who were both from the RSP and the SAPS.
Sources said the suspects were arrested while attending a party in one of the locations in South Africa.
Gamedze was killed in cold blood at Galp Filling Station, Ezulwini, on January 14.
Suspects likely to
face three charges each
THE two suspects are possibly faced with three charges thus far, which include murder, theft and possession of an illegal firearm.
Mbuso ‘Ncaza’ Nkosi, who it is suspected to be the one who pulled the trigger, is most likely to be charged for the murder of businessman Victor Gamedze in SD and for car theft in his native country in South Africa.
Meanwhile, hi co-accused Siphiwo ‘Ntjebe/Tata’ Ngubane is likely to be charged with the murder of the late businessman and football administrator. He also faces charges of car theft and possession of an unlicensed firearm, which the police are yet to determine if it was used in the brutal murder of Gamedze.
He was found in possession of the gun during his arrest over the weekend in one of the locations in SA.
