WANDERERS MEMBERSHIP CARDS ON THEIR WAY

By Sibongiseni Zondi | 2018-02-20

SOCCER - MANZINI Wanderers supporters will soon be card caring supporters.

This emerged during a presentation made by National Supporters Committee (NCS) Secretary Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini during their meeting held at the Manzini Library on Sunday.

“To align ourselves with the team’s constitution that requires all supporters of this club to be card-carrying members, the NSC, in conjunction with management, has already received business proposals  from reputable companies that can register and give supporters’ identification cards. a certain company is being considered to start the work subject to the directors approval,” he said.

Support

He said the cards would be valid for a period of time predetermined by management and NSC.

“The printed cards will have details of the supporter and colour picture, with member number encoded in a barcode and magnetic strip at the back of the card. An eletronic database of all registered fans with details deemed fit by the team. The identification cards will help the team gauge if the following is growing or decreasing. The data will also be used when negotiating with potential sponsors,” he said. He added that the other benefit of implementing the system was that the team would be able to keep an accurate record of fans and improve communication with fans.

Tickets

"This will be through emails and sms which will improve fan loyalty. It will also see one official facebook page and a whatsapp group contrary to the current many FB pages and whatsapp groups that management and NSC have no control over."

Other benefits will include, but not limited to, a season game tickets at discount, or loyalty discount with certain retailers," he said. Dlamini also informed the supporters that once the membership cards were available, no one would be allowed to Manzini Wanderes meetings without the card. A supporter asked if that was going to benefit the team financially and also how were the funds from this project will be managed.

Dlamini further explained that another concern was the illegal team merchadise sold in various shops in the country.

“These things do not benefit the team financially but individuals, which is not good,” he said.
