CYCLING  –  THE ministry of sports, culture and youth affairs yesterday bid farewell to three local cyclists, who will be representing the country in the African Continental Road Cycling Championships to be held in the Rwanda Capital, Kigali.

This was during an event held the Swaziland Sports and Recreational Council (SNSRC) offices in Mbabane yesterday.

The team led by President Sihlangu Nhlabatsi left for the OR Tambo International Airport yesterday where they will connect a flight to Kigali.

Speaking during the farewell, SNSRC Business Development Manager Zama Tsabedze, who was representing the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Darius Dlomo  said they assisted the team with E60 000 to cover for transport and accommodation expenses.

Tsabedze further urged the team to enjoy themselves and represent the country as the peaceful nation it is famous for.

“This is a very strong team, especially when you consider the fact that there are the very people, who will be representing us at the Commonwealth Games in April.

To the boys, do us proud, and you know that means a podium finish, or at least beat your personal best. All in all enjoy yourselves and prepare for the Commonwealth Games. Don’t forget we are known as people who are respectful, so please represent us well.” he said.

Meanwhile, Coach Mbuso Motsa said the team was well prepared and thanked all stakeholders, who made their trip possible.

“We don’t have much to say than to promise to perform to the best of our abilities. The boys have been training hard and one of them even won the last race we had.

We hope he will take his form to the tournament. Seeing that this is the very same team to represent us in the Commonwealth, this tournament will offer the perfect platform to gauge where we stand.”
