By Sibusiso Masilela | 2018-01-14

Mbabane Citizens (0)2 Milling Hotspurs (0)0 SOCCER- Giants slayers Milling Hotspurs’ good run in the Ingwenyama Cup finally came to an end after getting a 2 - 0 thrashing from Mbabane Citizens yesterday. The Manzini based side was sent packing by a classy opposition during an exciting encounter played at the Somhlolo National Stadium.

Not only have they advanced to the semi-finals but Citizen are already E240 000 richer by virtue of making it to this stage and also being the best National First Division (NFD) finishers. Hotspurs, which previously gunned down two premier League giants Matsapha United and Mbabane Highlanders failed to display their spirited performances against the star studded opposition which also becomes the first NFD side to book a place in the semi-finals of the lucrative knockout tournament.Under the guidance of new coach Ikabort Masocha, the capital side did the job in each half where they netted through Sipho Tsabedze and Vusi Hlanze. The first goal came in the 39th minute after Tsabedze, who is younger brother to Mbabane Swallows Captain Tony 'TT' Tsabedze, unleashed a stunning strike resulting from a free-kick, past a bemused Milling goalkeeper Thulani Dvuba The second half saw Citizen pushing numbers and their efforts were rewarded as they wrapped up the games just seven minutes into the stanza through the lanky striker Hlanze who headed home a Sipho Tsabedze corner kick shot. Milling on the other hand failed to come to the party, failing to create the much needed scoring chances.
