THINGS FALL APART AT LUBOMBO REFERRAL HOSPITAL

By Ackel Zwane | 2018-01-13

Incomplete building structures and an incinerator building rotting away are the only outstanding features of the multi-million infrastructure that only services as a clinic as opposed to being a referral hospital. Insiders say state of the art equipment, mostly high tech, is rusting and becoming obsolete before it is even being used. There was no construction activity in site this week save for patients milling in and out of the only outpatient department while the only other structure that promises to have some silent activity is the mortuary further down. In February last year government invited tenders with the following conditions for interested entities; Interested parties should include entities whose primary business is hospital business, who can apply as an individual company or as a joint venture.

They can be based in any part of the world; Should demonstrate more than 10 years experience in conducting similar activities as stipulated above ; Should demonstrate adequate financial capacity to undertake the assignment; Should provide CVs of directors with demonstrable experience in the medical field and in management of hospitals of referral status; Should demonstrate experience in working with national Governments in a PPP arrangement. SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS: Interested qualified service providers are invited to submit their expressions of interest, in English, including details of their experience in similar engagements and potential team members. The closing date was March 24 last year. Last June Lubombo Regional Health Management Team (RHMT) joined together with its partners in Lubombo Referral Hospital for the dissemination of the work plan 2017 – 2018 and the 2016 annual report. The activity took place on June 7, 2017 and it was graced by the presence of ministry of health directorates, the likes of Deputy Director health Services Rejoice Nkambule and Dr Gcinile Buthelezi, and the URC Country Director Dr Samson Haumba.
