SOCCER - INGWENYAMA Cup jersey numbering has been increased to 99 in the 2017/18 Rules and Regulations compared to last season’s utmost 30.
The move will come as a relief to players like Green Mamba’s Musa Dlamini, who is popularly known for his jersey number 95. Mbabane Swallows goalkeeper Sandile ‘Nkomishi’ Ginindza also dons jersey number 32, which was against last season’s rules of the tournament.
This is contained in article 8 (5, 6) of the rules which states that the players’ kits shall bear numbers on their jerseys and numbering shall be from 1 to 99.
Under the same article, it states that each registered club shall have two sets of contrasting uniforms in its registered colours so as to effect change in case of colour clashes and a club that fails to bring an additional playing kit shall be summarily fined E5 000.
The visiting or away club shall be required to change uniform in case of colour clashes.
The games will kick-off tonight with Mahlalini and Sea Birds playing hosts to Vovovo and Green Mamba at Mavuso Sports Centre while Somhlolo will host the clash between Young Buffaloes and Boyane and the Manzini mini-derby pitting Hub Sundowns and Manzini Sundowns.
