PLAYERS NABBED BY YELLOW CARD RULE TO MISS INGWENYAMA CUP

By Qondile Ntiwane | 2017-12-07

SOCCER  - SOME Premier League players will not take part in the opening games of the Ingwenyama Cup due to yellow cards.

The tournament, sponsored by the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund, gets underway tomorrow night in different venues around the country.

Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati confirmed that some players would be suspended for the upcoming games.

He said the Ingwenyama Cup was an official tournament, hence players with yellow cards would have to serve the one game ban.

Rules

“There are Premier League players nabbed by the yellow card rule going into the Ingwenyama Cup and according to the rules, they will have to serve their suspension because this is a formal tournament. It is only the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup where players with yellow cards can play the next match as this is a pre-season competition,” he said. He, however, stated that the list would be released in due course as they were still compiling it. “We are from games this weekend and are still compiling the reports. The list will be announced soon.”
