SOCCER – HUB giants Manzini Wanderers head coach Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe says his team’s back-to-back losses in the MTN Premier League prove that there is a big problem he has to urgently fix before they kick-off their Ingwenyama Cup campaign this coming week.
Following this past weekend’s 0 – 2 defeat to Lubombo based side Tambuti, the maroon and white outfit dropped by one place on the log as they are now seven points behind tied log leaders in capital city giants Mbabane Swallows and army side Young Buffaloes.
“The recent performances are a definite cause for concern. We cannot be losing matches like this.
It’s simply unacceptable, and it shows we have a big problem I have to find and quickly sort out. It’s something I have to work on now before the problem escalates.”
He said losing two games in a row was not acceptable if they were to finish the league on a high.
“We lost the match against Tambuti and the fans got angry – rightfully so even, we had Kola back from injury but we still didn’t play like a team.
Instead, it was just individualism at its best.
“Since we won the fifth game in succession it’s like we aren’t clicking. We played like we don’t train together and that is why we lost the match against Tambuti. I won’t even try and count the glorious chances we missed.
The performances in the past matches have been truly appalling and we have to re-group and return to our winning ways.” he said. The ‘Weslians’ will look to add a trophy in their dusty trophy cabinet when they face-off with Sikhalo Se-Africa in the second match of the Ingwenyama Cup grand opening scheduled for Sunday at the Somhlolo National Stadium.
