POOL - ESWATINI’S select pool team, The Guptas, is set to compete in the prestigious Billiards Cafe Tournament in Zambia this weekend.

The team, formed by Flag Nxumalo and Norman Khoza, aims to provide players with international exposure and bolster the national team through regular competition against top-tier international pool clubs.

The Guptas, comprising players from the Manzini Regional Pool Association (MRPA), will travel to Zambia today to participate in the tournament. Nine players will compete in the singles category before facing Sharks Pool Club in a high-stakes team event for a (ZMW 30 000) E19 783.29 prize pot.

The Guptas Media Officer Sithembiso ‘Dodge’ Matsebula said they had selected players that represent the best talent from the MRPA league.

He expressed optimism about the team’s prospects in the tournament.  The tournament will feature intense matches in both singles and team events. The Guptas aim to make a strong impression, particularly in the team event against the Sharks Pool Club.

“This is an excellent opportunity for our players to gain international exposure and test their skills against some of the best in the region. We have high expectations for good results” he said.

He also extended gratitude to AutoCity Director Faizel ‘Mzala’ Lattif for his sponsorship of one of the players, Dumsani ‘Dinho’ Malindzisa.

“One of our players, ‘Dinho,’ received full sponsorship from AutoCity’s director to compete in this tournament. This support has allowed us to field a competitive team. We thank him for his generosity and wish the team all the best,” he added.
