NATCOM CONFIRMS ARREST OF SO-CALLED SOLIDARITY COMMANDER

The National Commissioner of Police (NATCOM) William 'Tsitsibala' Dlamini has confirmed the arrest of the alleged commander of Solidarity Forces Thabo Kunene.

Dlamini confirmed yesterday that Kunene and another suspect had been arrested and detained.

The pair, according to information from social media platforms, was arrested on Wednesday along the borderline with South Africa.

Their arrest was subsequent to a video footage in which the duo was accused of having tried to steal firearms. In one of the video footages, they were seen dressing up.

The pair is said to have committed the criminal act in South Africa at a homestead of a traditional healer identified as Dr Mkhulu.

This was further circulated online by the Swaziland News on Wednesday night.
The Swaziland International Solidarity Forces (SISF) is a group believed to have been carrying out terrorist activities in the country and was made known to the public by social media.

The group has, in the past months, been allegedly linked to numerous killings. Among the killings was that of chief and security officers.
They are also said to have disclosed their presence whenever they set structures of prominent people alight.  

In a statement released by the NATCOM, he confirmed that Thabo and another suspect had been arrested and were assisting the police with their investigations of crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder and other serious offences.

“The nation is already aware of the news that have been circulating in social media and other news platforms about the arrest of Thabo Kunene who is alleged to be the ‘Commander’ of the so-called ‘Swaziland International Solidarity Forces’, an entity that is suspected to be behind a number of heinous criminal and terrorism related cases that have occurred in the country in the recent pastand up to-date,” states the commissioner.

The commissioner extended appreciation to the public, which was fully behind and supporting the police with information as they continued with their investigations of terrorism related and other serious crimes.
 He stated that such cooperation may continue to prevail.
