ACAESWA President Phetsile Masilela has resigned from the position.
This was confirmed by ACAESWA PRO Nhlanhla Mathunjwa yesterday.
Mathunjwa revealed that their Vice President Mxolisi Vilakati would be taking over Masilela’s duties.
Masilela said resigning from the association was beyond her control, solely because she had a lot on her plate.
“My resignation as president is sincerely out of love for members of the association so that things don't die in my hands while I'm busy with other assignments that need my undivided attention. I have taken time to pray about this. Hence, I know and am confident that God is with us.
“He loves us and He will do everything for His own glory,” Masilela said.
The association under the directorship of Masilela was able to achieve a number of projects, including rebranding of the association, 2019 Lockdown Gospel Music Awards, Back To School Shoe campaign for 100 needy children, contributions to the Intellectual Property Regulations implementation and setting up of the board, 2022 Gospel Music Awards and many more.
“I would like to appreciate the opportunity that the association has given me to explore my leadership capabilities.
“I have learnt so much and I have realised that we can reach the sky together as artists.
“May I appreciate the love and respect you have all shown me in the past four years. I am sincerely humbled,” said Masilela.
She further thanked all partners and stakeholders that chose to partner with ACAESWA during her reign.
“I ran out of strength. Don’t do anything that you know I would not do. Talk to God before taking any critical decision. He is the best advisor and counsellor. Great is His faithfulness. Please take our legacy forward, for God to be glorified.
“I do pledge that I am and will still be a member of the association, and I will advise and support where I can,” she added.
