SOCCER - MTN Premier League rookies and ambitious side Nsingizini Hotspurs have signed former Denmark-based player and Zimbabwean international Tanaka Chinyahara.
The former Hobro IK, Jammerbugt FC joined the Shiselwenis based side alongside two locals Lwazi Bhembe and Neliswa ‘Tiger’ Myeni, formerly with Milling Hotspurs and Tambankulu Callies, respectively.
The offensive midfielder Chinyahara joins from Zambian side Red Arrows.
He is the third international player in the books of the Gerrard Phiri-led side, after the Ghanaian pair of Pius Baffor and David Agudze.
A source close to the club said the three players had already started training with the team after signing their contracts.
“I attended the team’s training session yesterday and the new players were training with the other players. From what I heard, they will all be available for selection for their match against Mbabane Highlanders on Sunday,” said the source.
The Zimbabwean player once played for CAPS United, Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits junior squads and Witbank Spurs senior teams.
Nsingizini Hotspurs President, Derrick Shiba confirmed the latest developments.
He said it was true that the team had signed the three players.
“It is with great pleasure that I welcome these players into the Nsingizini Hotspurs’ family,” he said.
Shiba said the new arrivals were already training with the rest of the players.
He said they were happy to strengthen the team as they wanted to compete effectively in all competitions.
“I want to ask our fans to welcome the players and give them all the support they need so that they can easily settle in.”
Optimistic
The club’s Communications and Marketing Manager Mphikeleli Dlamini said they were optimistic that the new players would add value in the team.
“We want to thank our President Derrick Shiba for always supporting the team. He is a visionary leader, who is doing everything in his powers to take the team to greater heights,” he said. On another note, Dlamini said preparations for their game against Highlanders were proceeding well as the players were in high spirit.
“We are ready for the match on Sunday. Highlanders beat us 1-0 in the first round and we will be all out for the three points this time around.”
He said the players were highly-motivated going into this match. The match will be played at King Sobhuza II Stadium on Sunday.
This will be double header that will also feature the match between Manzini Wanderers and Sea Birds.
