LEOPARD HAS EDGE OVER US - NSINGIZINI

By SABELO GWEBU | 2022-11-16

SOCCER - FOLLOWING their participation in the Total Energies CAF inter-club competitions, Nsingizini Hotspurs coach Gerald Phiri is adamant Royal Leopard have that extra edge ahead of this afternoon outing.

The two sides will clash head-on in a pending MTN Premier League clash scheduled for King Sobhuza II Stadium in a 2pm kick-off.

However, Phiri is convinced his side has all it takes to get positive results in what has been a bright start for the rookies in elite league football.

“Of course participating in such tournaments (CAF inter-club competitions) will always give a team that edge as they play against the very best in the continent. However, we are unfazed as it will be 11 against 11 inside the field of play and we are confident of a good outing,” the Malawi-born strategist said.

The MoMo Cup winning coach added that he was coming to this game with an injury-free squad.

Nsingizini are yet to taste defeat in their opening matches, beating Denver Sundowns and Madlenya by 2-1 score-lines before last Saturday's 1-all draw against Young Buffaloes.
Leopard, the defending MTN Premier League champions were recently eliminated from the Total Energies CAF Confederation Cup after suffering a 4-2 aggregate defeat at the hands of Malian giants AS Real de Bamako.

Meanwhile, ‘Ingwemabalabala’ coach Edwin Matsebula said it is a must-win game for them considering their position on the log standings.

“It's a must-win game for us as we have to improve our log position. I cannot mention names, but we have a few injury concerns,” he said.
Matsebula added that their elimination from the continent’s second-tier club competition can never be a blessing in disguise as they were able to juggle both tournaments last season.
