‘MZORO’, NSINGIZINI BAG GONGS AT SOCIAL MEDIA AWARDS

By Nomalungelo Phiri | 2021-12-06

SOCCER - MTN Premier League Player of the Season, who is also Royal Leopard’s captain Muzi ‘Mzoro’ Dlamini together with ambitious MTN National First Division side Nsingizini Hotspurs won big at the Social Media Awards over the past weekend. Dlamini won the Sport Personality of the Year award, while Nsingizini bagged the Most Popular Football Club prize.

The awards ceremony was held at the prestigious Sharma House on Saturday night.

The stars of the Social Media Awards’ second edition shone bright on mostly upcoming creatives. These included those in the arts, media, sport, medical and beauty industries, to mention but only a few. With over 40 categories that were battled out for on the night, most of the winners were young and new people in their fields.

Not only did the awards celebrate young people in their various fields, but they made sure that their different brands were promoted on the night. Interviewed yesterday, ‘Mzoro’ was appreciative for the recognition and further thanked the brains behind the event, Swazi Boy Entertainment for putting up such a great initiative.

Dlamini also thanked the Almighty God, his family, friends and fans who voted for him. “I am very grateful for the support. It would not have been possible without their support,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nsingizini Hotspurs Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mphikeleli Dlamini said they were very happy to have won such an award outside the football circles, as it showed that people had confidence in their capabilities as a small new team in the league.

He said since they were a new team in the MTN National First Division League, this would come as a morale booster to them.

Dlamini added that competing with big teams like capital city giants Mbabane Swallows and Highlanders was not a joke, thus such an award will propel them to put more effort in all their games to prove themselves worthy of the award that they won over the weekend. “We were competing against the best teams in the country.

The award will boost our confidence as a small team to continue doing better. It is a big one for the team,” he emphasised. He then warned the other teams to watch out for them in their next games, as they were ready to sweep the boards.

Dlamini expressed the team’s gratitude for the support they get from their President, Derrick Shiba, whom he described as a father-figure to the players and the team’s hierarchy.
