THERE seem to be no hope for Eswatini pageants. This marks the second year that Miss Eswatini and other pageants have not been crowned. Mr Eswatini, Miss Tourism and other pageants have not seen the light of day in over five years. Some of these pageants have been launched but have not crowned any winners.
It is worth noting that the associations in charge of these pageants have tried all they could to host these events in the past years but have not been successful.
The pandemic is just one of the reasons why the pageants have not been hosted. It is also worth noting that all reigning queens and kings were relieved of their duties. As it stands there are no reigning queens and kings for any pageants.
It is not known when the pageants will be reinstated and with the current situation in the country it is hard to deduce. It is worth mentioning that the Miss Teen pageant was last held on September 9, 2017, where Tyra Johnson scooped the crown, while the Miss Eswatini pageant was last held on September 15, 2018 where the crown was scooped by Nosipho Dlamini.
Potgieter had revealed that there had been challenges with aligning both pageants with the rest of the SADC regions.
