By NOMALUNGELO PHIRI | 2021-09-25

SOCCER - FORMER Mbabane Swallows duo of Mandla Palma and Tyson Magagula are hoping to join Mbabane Highlanders this season. The two defenders are currently training with the ‘Black Bull’ alongside ex-Moneni Pirates defender Sihle Mkhonta and transferred Manzini Wanderers goalkeeper Innocent Adja.

Palma and Magagula spent the previous season at Denver Sundowns and Tambuti respectively after partying ways with Swallows about three seasons ago. A source close to the matter said the players started training with the team under the watchful eye of former Moneni Pirates head coach Ernest Mavuso.

The four players are set to travel with the team to South Africa this morning for their pre-season training in preparation for the new campaign in Tshwane. "The four players trained with the team on Tuesday afternoon and they are part of the delegation heading for South Africa but a decision over their future has not been taken,”the source said.

Highlanders head coach Ernest Mavuso said they were currently assessing several players when sought for comment. "We are having nine players who are on trials with the club at the moment. They will also leave with the rest of the team for the Pretoria pre-season training but they are still under assessment,” he said. The capital city giants are currently under the leadership of South African chief Ally Kgomongwe on a five year contract.
