PLE TO LAUNCH VACCINATION DRIVE THIS WEEK

By Sibusiso Masilela | 2021-09-22

SOCCER - THE Premier League of Eswatini has stepped up the gear in its mission to bring back spectators into stadiums next season.

The organisation will launch its vaccination campaign between Wednesday and Thursday at the Mavuso Sports Centre subject to confirmation of the guests. This was revealed by the organisation executive member Charles Matsebula during a press conference at Sigwaca House yesterday. The PLE head of administration was in the company of Chief Operations Officer Pat Vilakati.

“We will be launching our vaccination campaign between Wednesday and Thursday at Mavuso Sports Centre. Details of the launch will be unpacked in due course once we confirm our guests for the event. We strongly believe that the campaign will encourage fans to vaccinate since the exercise will boost the return of fans next season.

We really need spectators as they boost the sport since football gather 15 000 people within the various venues per weekend ,” he said. Matsebula further stated that they would follow other necessary health protocols in their mission.

The campaign comes after the recent announcement by Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi that spectators would be allowed back to stadiums if the vaccination programme covers 60 per cent of the population. Football supporters have been barred from watching the beautiful game of football since the COVID 19 outbreak in March last year.
