DUBBED Lockdown Edition, Megasound Entertainment will host their renowned picnic on October 24.
This was confirmed by Megasound co-founder Samkelo ‘DJ Zulu D’ Zulu yesterday.
Due to the lockdown restrictions, Zulu D said the stable would ensure that their event follows all the guidelines and rules as per government’s expectations.
He said the picnic would be hosted at Sibebe Resort. However, since its inception, the picnic has been hosted at Malkerns Country Club. “We decided to change the venue because this will be one of a kind picnic. We decided on Sibebe because the place is big enough for people to attend and still follow social distancing guidelines. We are also looking at a tour for the picnic, so we will not accommodate everyone because a number of attendees will be allowed,” he said.
Zulu said a limited number of tickets would be sold.
The deejay said coming to the decision was not easy, but they understand the need for hosting to support their artists.
“It is no secret that this has been a tough year for everyone, we sat down and thought what could bring a smile on people’s faces. Although this year’s attendance will be very limited, but we feel the few who will be able to attend will finally have something to smile about,” he added. He added that the nature of a picnic encourages friends , families, couples and everyone to enjoy time together in an environment that is safe and friendly. “What a better way to do that overlooking the infinity pool at Sibebe Resort with live music in the background. This year’s edition is not just about entertainment, but it will also be about encouraging local tourism in helping fun-lovers find more interesting experiences across the country,” he said.
The spinner said as the Megasound team, they knew best was to create a fun environment for people. “We will do this with the restrictions we are currently under. We promise people will have a good time putting their health first by following all Covid-19 precautions,” he added.
Megasound Picnic has hosted a number of local and international acts. In a few years, it became one of the country’s most loved events. They have hosted the likes of Naak Musiq, Motoyemali, Master P, DJ Mbo, Supa CDQ, !Sooks, Symphony, Nomalungelo, Ralph Gum and many more.
