SOCCER - A Manzini Wanderers player is in self-isolation after he exhibited coronavirus symptoms.
The player, whose name is deliberately withheld for ethical reasons, is said to be in self-isolation at the club house which is situated in Manzini while waiting for his results.
A source close to the matter revealed that the player was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after showing some COVID-19 symptoms.
“The player was rushed to hospital after he developed fever and other COVID-19 symptoms. His body temperature was also alarming. He was tested and he was told to remain in self-isolation until he gets his results. The club evacuated the rest of the players from the club house following the illness of the said player,” the source said. Wanderers Public Relations Officer Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini confirmed that one of their players was in self-isolation when reached yesterday.
“One of our players is in isolation after he recently fell sick and we had to take precautions as a club. “We are praying that he will recover soon,” he said. The player has been part of the hub giants for over three seasons and has featured under Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe and Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati.
The suspected case for the ‘Weslians’ star comes a few days after a top Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council official also tested positive for the coronavirus. A player and manager of another Premier League side tested positive last month.
