SOCCER - THE Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) President Gianni Infantino will discuss the aftermath of the COVID-19 crisis in football and FIFA’s vision for the game’s future at WFS Live.
Infantino will be one of 50 high-profile speakers for the fund-raising online event, co-organised by World Football Summit, Ronaldo Nazário and Octagon Brasil, that has brought global football leaders together to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing football in these unprecedented times.
Information gathered from FIFA website revealed that the proceeds would be donated to Common Goal and Fundação Fenômenos to help tackle the effects of COVID-19 in vulnerable communities. “I am happy to accept the invitation of my friend and FIFA Legend Ronaldo to participate in the event that he is hosting online,” said the FIFA president, who will speak on Friday.
“This is a time for the global football community to be united, and this event provides a unique platform for leaders and stakeholders across the world to join forces and work together while raising funds to tackle the effects of COVID-19 on vulnerable communities.”
“The industry needs true leaders more than ever and we can’t think of a more inspiring figure in football than Mr Gianni Infantino,” said Ronaldo. “His job at FIFA has helped globalise, popularise and democratise football for the benefit of the entire world.
I think it is great news that stakeholders across the globe will be able to hear from him at WFS Live powered by Octagon, and we are truly honoured to have him.” Reached for comment, Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Muzi Radebe said they would also follow the proceedings as EFA.
"Teams and football lovers who have access to the platform should also watch,” he said.
