ALLY FINDS DIRECTOR FOR WANDERERS

By Melusi Mlotsa | 2020-05-27

SOCCER - CAPITAL city giants Mbabane Highlanders boss Ally Kgomongwe has found a new director for hub giants Manzini Wanderers and says he will introduce him soon.

This comes after the maroon and white outfit’s select committee led by J Fakudze requested Kgomongwe to find a suitable individual or consortium to take over the day-to-day running of the club, including financial and general administration.

Speaking to this publication yesterday afternoon, Kgomongwe said he had found a person who has the financial muscle to take over at Manzini Wanderers. The new Wanderers potential director is Thabo Kopoe. "I want to put it straight that the Wanderers’ project is still on after they asked me to get someone to help them. I will introduce their new director soon.

We cannot allow Wanderers to suffer like that because they are one of the biggest clubs in the country.” Kgomongwe said Wanderers was a big brand that needed a reputable person to take the team forward.

“In fact, you cannot allow Mbabane Highlanders, Manzini Wanderers and Mbabane Swallows to suffer because they are the basket of Eswatini football.

If they suffer, the Premier League of Eswatini will also not get revenue. What I am trying to say is that these big three teams need to be taken care of," he said. Kgomongwe further mentioned that there was no need for Wanderers to apologise to him for the leaked letter. “What happened is now water under the bridge to me.

There is no need for them to apologise. I also want to clarify that finding a new director for Wanderers will not interfere or clash with my duties at Highlanders.

So Highlanders supporters must rest assured that I am here to stay. I want the team to win trophies," he said. Kgomongwe said his wish was to take Highlanders to greater heights.

“Mine is just to ask the entire Highlanders family to pull in one direction. United we stand and divided we fall. My mission with Highlanders is clear and it is to reclaim the glory days and take the team to greater heights.

I must tell you now that this is a possible mission.”

Meanwhile, acquiring a new director at Wanderers will come as a huge relief for the team and its stakeholders as they have been struggling financially since the unceremonious departure of former boss and businessman Mehluli Nhlengetfwa.
