SOCCER - THE late Mhlume Peacemakers coach Alou Badara was laid to his final resting place at Mangwaneni Cemetery yesterday afternoon in the Islamic culture.
The well-travelled Malian coach’s funeral attracted the local football fraternity who attended the short service at the Ezulwini mosque before proceeding to the Mangwaneni cemetery.
Mhlume Peacemakers players have vowed to avoid relegation in the MTN Premier League in honour of their late coach.
This was said by the sugar belt’s side senior player Shaka Nkwanyane, who said they would now for fight for their survival in the elite league in honour of their late coach.
“We will do our best to avoid relegation which is something that the coach wanted to achieve when he joined the team. It’s painful that he is no longer with us but we will soldier on. He always wanted the best out of us during his stint with the team.
“We will forever cherish the moments spent with him and we are deeply saddened by his demise,” he said. Meanwhile, Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows Chairman Charles Matsebula thanked the late Badara for his contribution to their team.
“We are saddened by the demise of Badara who is among the list of coaches who helped in the development of our team,” he said.
The late Badara was laid to rest in the presence of members of the local football fraternity, including Peacemakers Chairman MP Sibusiso ‘Scorpion’ Nxumalo, Management Committee members and officials, among others.
The late Badara leaves the sugar belt side at position 12 in the log standings.
Badara was a true professional – Christian
SOCCER – FORMER Manzini Wanderers and Mbabane Highlanders assistant coach Christian Thwala has described the late Alou Badara as a true professional.
Thwala said Badara was one of the best coaches he worked with in his coaching career.
He worked as Badara’s assistant at Highlanders during the 2017/18 season. “He was one of the most professional coaches I have worked with. He loved his job very much. He was a dedicated coach who was passionate about the development of the sport. He never missed coaching courses,” he said.
Thwala was part of the local coaches who paid their last respects to the late Malian coach, including Sihlangu coach Dominic Kunene, Dumisani ‘DU’ Makhanya, Musa Mamba, Musa Manyatsi, former Tambuti assistant coach Themba Tsabedze, Malanti Chiefs coaches Christopher Tembo and Raymond Dlamini.
‘Badara’s demise a huge loss for Eswatini Football’
SOCCER – MBABANE Highlanders patron Ngom’yayona Gamedze says coach Alou Badara’s demise is a huge loss to local football.
Gamedze said their late coach dedicated his life to the sport throughout his 10-year stay in the country. “Badara was one of the best professional coaches I have worked with at Highlanders. He was committed to the sport and always stood his ground when it came to football issues. He always justified his football decisions during his time at Highlanders and we will forever miss his contribution and passion for football,” he said.
Other football officials who attended the funeral were Mbabane Swallows Manager Sandile Dlamini, Malanti Chiefs Manager Mandla Maduna and Peacemakers officials. The late Badara had several stints with four Premier League clubs Mbabane Swallows, Mbabane Highlanders, Tambuti and Black Swallows before joining his last club Peacemakers about three weeks ago.
