WE KNEW IT WAS NOT REAL

By Nokwanda Sibandze | 2020-02-21

AFTER having the whole country on a standstill, news that singer Sands and social media influencer Tiitee were not really engaged did not come as a shock.

Many people on social media voiced out how they never thought the engagement was real because of the factors they knew about the two.

Most people from the first post thought the two were shooting a music video of one of Sands’ songs.

Although the two were active in promoting the Eswatini Tourism campaign, some people still believed the two were truly in-love and were getting married. When the news broke that the two were not really together, most people commented to say they knew it. Nomfundo Mabuza said it was too good to be true.

“They were too out there for a couple that claimed to be dating for a while but never posted each other, that is what gave them up for me,” she said. Lindelwa Mamba said she had her doubts because she had never seen them together or even heard rumours about them. Other people just expressed how they thought Sands would marry them instead of Tiitee.

“They are in the public eye, so not having heard about them before the whole stunt was a red flag for me,” she said. The two said they had fun during the campaign but also experienced some hard times.

“Faking an entire relationship is not easy. I have, however learned a lot from this entire journey and I must say it ended beautifully for the couples,” he said.

The singer said what was mostly disturbing about the whole thing was the people that came to them telling them they were not meant for each other.

“It was shocking to see the lengths people would go to, to break people up but at the same time many people were happy about the whole thing and congratulated us,” he said.

Tiitee, on the other hand said the campaign made her realise that people deserve, love.

“With all the stories we received for the campaign, it was amazing to see how people enjoy being in love. With the ‘relationship’ I had with Sands as well, people reacted in so many ways, but what got to me the most were the people who congratulated us and supported us even though we knew it was not real,” she said.
