ZWELI ‘ZWEMART’ DLAMINI ARRESTED

ZWEMART private investigators Director Zweli Martin Dlamini has been arrested and charged with contempt of court. The Swaziland News editor was yesterday rounded up by police officers from the Lobamba Police Station after he had been issued with a warrant of arrest for failing to appear in court on assault charges the previous day.

Dlamini was on Thursday supposed to make an appearance before acting Magistrate Simo Simelane to answer on assault common charges. However, after the mandatory three calls by a court orderly, Dlamini failed to appear, earning himself a warrant of apprehension from the court.

According to court records, the 36-year-old Dlamini of LaMgabhi area allegedly threatened to shoot and kill Gedleza Alfred Maseko, thus committing the offence of assault common. The incident occurred at LaMgabhi community. Maseko is the acting indvuna of LaMgabhi Etiyeni area. According to information gathered, Dlamini is allegedly embroiled in a land dispute with the LaMgabhi Royal Kraal after it was discovered that he appropriated himself and a relative land without the approval of the umphakatsi.

Tempers flared when Dlamini was confronted about his illicit land dealings, resulting in him threatening to shoot and kill Maseko. When he eventually makes his appearance in court Dlamini will face contempt of court charges for disrespecting and disregarding the court by failing to make an appearance after he was issued with summons.
