BULL OFFLOAD SITHOLE, NANDOS

By Melusi Mlotsa | 2020-01-28

SOCCER - CAPITAL city giants Mbabane Highlanders have parted ways with midfield dynamo Menzi Sithole and South Africa-born winger Patrick ‘Nandos’ Mashele.

Sithole joined Mbabane Highlanders from Royal Leopard during the era of Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane after a swap deal involving twins Fanelo and Lungelo Tsabedze.  The player quickly established a name for himself in the team, as he also caught the eye of former national team coach Kostadin Papic, who roped him in his squad.

On the other hand, ‘Nandos’ joined the team at the beginning of the 2019/20 season. His contract was terminated last week after he was deemed surplus to requirement. Sithole’s contract was terminated yesterday afternoon after he missed the team’s training session last week.

Information gathered from a source close to the matter revealed that the player was served with a letter terminating his contract yesterday afternoon by the team’s Secretary Simiso Jele. In the letter, it was also stated that he must join a team of his choice.

“It is true Sithole’s contract has been terminated after he did not show up at training last week,” said the source.

Sithole also confirmed that he was no longer a Mbabane Highlanders player after they terminated his contract yesterday. “Yes I can confirm that my contract has been terminated. I wasn’t expecting this. Anyway this is football and I will contemplate my next move.”

Mbabane Highlanders Communications Officer Bhekisisa Dlamini said he was in class and asked to be given time to find out about the latest developments.

Other players who have been offloaded recently are striker Melusi ‘Slender’ Dlamini, midfielder Nkosinamandla Nkambule, attacking midfielder  Mphucuko ‘Smoothies’ Dlamini, striker Muzikayifani Ngidi and left back Punch Masenemela.
