Over E14 million was generated from pigs sold in the second quarter.
This is according to the ministry of agriculture’s second quarter performance report.
It states that 7 228 pigs were sold, generating a precise income of E14 730 0502 from all regions in the country.
Lubombo had the highest sales with an income of E4 822 790 followed by Shiselweni with E4 569 600, Manzini at E3 634 10 and Hhohho with E1 703 502.
According to the report, this quarter ended with a total of 54 355 pigs countrywide, which is a 9.59 per cent increase from the last quarter.
It further disclosed that registered farmers have increased to 1 227 from the last quarter where they were at 1 164.
In terms of extension activities on pig production and marketing, the report states that extension services were rendered to 1 350 individuals countrywide.
