The youth has been implored to take entrepreneurship to another level for the country to turn around the current economic situation.
This was revealed during the Business Kick-Off seminar 2019 final edition, which was held at the Mbabane National Library recently.
During the seminar, MTN Eswatini Corporate Affairs Manager Mandla Luphondvo was the guest speaker where he urged the youth to follow their passion and not to follow the characters of other successful people because that will not guarantee them any success in whatever they are doing.
Luphondvo said the youth has a big role to play in the country’s economic space and for them not to lose focus, they need to embrace their talent and be always inspired to do the best out of themselves.
He said the current financial challenges need entrepreneurs who will offer innovative ideas and that will only be achieved through creativity and dedication of the young people who have a passion for business.
“If young people can identify the talent within themselves and capitalise on them other than relying on being employed by someone, they can be a very productive generation the country has ever seen and I challenge all the young people to make sure they use their talent to their advantage,” he said.
Another speaker who also shared inspirational messages with the youth was Mandla ‘Cheeks’ Nxumalo who encouraged the youth to make sure that they position themselves very well either in business or in any craft they are involved in.
Nxumalo said talent and popularity doesn’t make money but it is always business that rakes in money and so one needs to ensure that his or her business has a strong corporate brand that will ensure its sustainability and visibility in the market.
Meanwhile, Jumbo Khumalo said exposure and networking were the new currency and young people should network more to stay relevant in their businesses.
“In business who you know matters the most and I would like to encourage the youth to make sure that by next year the get involved networking sessions,” Khumalo said.
At the end of the seminar there was a formal presentation of certificates of entrepreneurship to 44 young aspiring business people who have been attending the Business Kick-Off Seminars since January this year.
The Business Kick-Off has over time seen the attendance of various business people and captains of industry such as Tibiyo TakaNgwane Managing Director Dr. Absalom Themba Dlamini, Emfuleni Lifestyle Director Daladi Dlamini, Macford Sibandze, Wara Wara Hlatshwako, Anele Shabangu and Mbali Nxumalo, to mention only but a few.
