SOCCER – ARMY side Young Buffaloes yesterday received an E80 000 boost from EswatiniBank, ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup journey.
Buffaloes will take on Zambian outfit Buildcon in the second leg of the preliminary round at the Mavuso Sports Centre on Saturday.
Buffaloes, by virtue of being the EswatiniBank Cup champions, received E50 000 cash sponsorship, which is part of the prize package of the knockout tournament.
In addition to the cash, the team also received another E30 000 worth of merchandise, including a soccer kit, sports bags, warm-up kits and water bottles totalling the sponsorship to E80 000.
Presenting the sponsorship was the bank’s Managing Director Zakhele Lukhele during an event held at their auditorium yesterday.
Lukhele congratulated Young Buffaloes for winning the EswatiniBank Cup ‘Solo Inje’ 2019 edition which saw them qualify to compete in the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup.
“Buffaloes are the first ever team to win this tournament three times in a row.”
Lukhele also congratulated the team for winning the first leg preliminary round against Builcon FC in Zambia about three weeks ago.
“We would also like to wish Amatholenzinyathi all the best when they face Buildcon FC in the second leg this weekend at home (Eswatini). We urge everyone to support the team. It’s E30 at the gate and the match will start at 3pm.” He said he was pleased to announce that the bank would make a cash sponsorship of E 50 000 to young Buffaloes which is part of the EswatiniBank Cup sponsorship. In addition, the bank contributed a soccer kit, gym bags, warm up t-shirts and water bottles which brings the total value of the sponsorship of E80 000.”
He said they were fully supportive of Young Buffaloes’ participation in the continental tournament as they represented the Kingdom of Eswatini.
He said they expected positive result, good behaviour, and sportsmanship and hoped they would be good ambassadors for the country in all aspects.
“We wish Young Buffaloes all the best and our prayers are with them as they carry the country’s hopes of winning against Zambia’s Buildcon.”
